Usher and Alicia Keys targeted for plagiarism

Two of the biggest names in R&B – “DJ Got Us Falling In Love” singer Usher and “Doesn’t Mean Anything” songstress Alicia Keys – have been hit with a new lawsuit by songwriter Wadena Pyatt, who claims that the mega-selling stars stole Usher’s 2004 hit song “Caught Up”.

According to the legal documents filed in New York’s Eastern District Court this week, Pyatt claims the popular song is a version of a tune she wrote back in 2002, when she was an artist signed to the roster of MBK Entertainment – a label owned by new mother Keys and her business partner, Jeff Robinson.

AllHipHop.com has leaked news of the fight, the song in question having peaked at number 21 on the US Billboard Pop Singles chart, and number 12 on the local ARIA singles chart. It was the fifth track to be taken from Usher’s album Confessions. Credited to writers Ryan Toby, Andre Harris, Vidal Davis and Jason Boyd, Pyatt is now suing for undisclosed damages.
